Copper and Kings
Moody Product & Lifestyle Photography for Premium Spirits Brand
Brand Overview
Copper & Kings is a bold and innovative spirit company, inspired by a rock-and-roll spirit, challenging the traditional norms of Brandy production. βThis is copper pot-distilled, sonic aged, sock-you-in-the mouth-delicious American-made brandy.β
Project Objective
To capture the essence of a carefree evening, where Copper & Kings is the perfect companion for a refined, music-loving millennial. The goal was to create a series of images that resonated with a culturally diverse audience in their late 20s to early 40s, living in metropolitan areas. These individuals are passionate about the finer things in life, including art, fashion, mixology, and, most importantly, music. The scene envisioned was a quiet, intimate moment at home, where a glass of Copper & Kings is enjoyed while listening to or playing music.
Production Challenges
Balancing the need to illuminate the bottle to showcase its distinctive color with the overall dark and moody aesthetic presented a challenge. I had to find a way to create a visually striking image that would capture the spirit of the brand without compromising the desired mood.
Creative Process
To overcome this challenge, I employed a creative lighting technique that involved using a simple cellphone flashlight function. By strategically placing the phone behind the bottle, I was able to subtly illuminate the glass, highlighting its rich color without compromising the overall darkness of the scene. This approach allowed me to create a series of images that were both visually striking and emotionally resonant, perfectly capturing the essence of Copper & Kings.
