What To Do During the "Off Season"

I know that I am not alone in wondering what I should be doing to make the most of my time during slower seasons of business. And I also know that quarter 1 tends to get a bit slow and sometimes a little depressing. So I made a list of things to do when business gets slow and I wanted to share it with you in hopes that it might help you stay motivated during the “off season” too!

  1. First of all it’s okay to relax, take some time off, and spend it with the ones you love. And REMEMBER, this is not a personal attack on your business and thing will get busy again soon!

  2. If your slow time (like mine) is the first quarter, then it’s an especially good time to get your books in order, but really ANYtime is a good one to go over your bookkeeping (especially if you’re like me and continue to put it off until it’s out of control).

  3. Vision cast and strategize for your year (this doesn’t just have to happen in the beginning of the year, whenever your slow season is it’s a good time to do this).

  4. Plan your content ahead so that it doesn’t creep up on you during busy season. Write up blog posts and map out email content, etc.

  5. Put systems in place like questionnaires, contracts, and email templates to make your busy season easier on yourself.

  6. Make a new freebie to drive email sign ups.

  7. Learn something new to help you run your business via a book, podcast, youtube, or online course.

  8. Scale up your marketing outreach.

  9. Actively engage on social media (not just with those who engage with you…go find some ideal customers and start commenting or DM them!)

  10. Collaborate with another small business to offer a new service or giveaway a product.

  11. Go visit and support other local businesses!

  12. Plan a brand photoshoot to help you market your business.
