Picking your outfits for your brand photoshoot is a big deal!
It sets the tone for your brand in a big way and so you want to be thoughtful and careful with your decisions. You want your outfits to feel authentic to you and your brand too. And of course, you’ll want them to be versatile enough to use the images in multiple different ways. So I put together a list of 5 important questions to ask yourself as your prepare and plan for your brand photoshoot outfits.
Where will I use these images?
Think through where you will be using your brand images. Will they be printed on a flyer? Posted on social media? On your website? The answer to this question will lay the foundation for how you think about what to wear for your brand photoshoot and help you think about how much versatility and variety you need in your outfits.
How long do I want these images to last?
Building on the last question, but slightly different. How long will you be using these images? Just for a season? Then pick more seasonal outfits. Want to use them for a whole year? Go with light layers. Want them to last even longer? Go super classic!
What do I normally show up to a client meeting in?
Nobody wants to be inauthentic. Plan outfits that you would actually wear! Do you work from home? Make sure you show that with a comfy outfit. Do you normally dress to the nines for a client meeting? Dress up for your shoot too.
What vibe do I want my brand to convey?
While remaining authentic to what you actually wear, let’s also think about what vibe you want to project with your brand. Do you want to portray your brand as sophisticated? Uplevel those classic outfits. Do you want to portray your brand is super laid back and casual? It’s okay to pull out the leggings and comfy sweaters!
What are my branding colors?
The worst thing would be to forget to coordinate your outfit colors with your brand colors. We don’t want clashing neons here! While you don’t necessarily have to wear your brand colors (that might be a little overboard depending on your brand) you do want the colors to complement each other for sure!
