How to Find the Right Brand Photographer for your Business
Finding the right brand photographer for your business is so important because your photography is what catches the eye of potential new customers and it sets the vibe for your brand.
Here are some tips for how to find the right photographer for your brand:
Make sure they specialize in brand photography (or at the very least have a lot of experience and are comfortable working with brands.)
Brand photography is different from other types of photography because their are marketing goals behind the images. Your brand photographer should be more intentional about making a shot list and plan for your shoot ahead of time than if they were just showing up to capture some family memories.
2. Ask about their process.
This goes hand-in-hand with my first point. If your photographer is used to working with brands they are probably pretty organized about how they go about planning a shoot. Asking how they plan and organize to make sure your shoot goes according to plan and you get all the images you need can reveal a lot about a photographer.
3. Make sure their style of work matches up with your brand and the vibe you are going for.
Check their portfolio on their website and Instagram to make sure their style and vibe is consistent with what you are looking for and trying to convey in your brand. Some photographers shoot a wider variety of imagery than others, but some niche into certain types of work. For instance, I almost always only use natural lighting in my images so I may not be the right photographer for you if you’re looking for hard shadows in your photos.
4. Make sure you are comfortable with them as a person and that your personalities mesh well.
It’s so important to feel comfortable with your photographer for a good experience and an outcome that you’ll love. This goes for picking any photographer, not just for your business.
5. Check their reviews.
And if they don’t have any public reviews online, ask them for a reference or two from previous clients just to make sure they are trustworthy before you hire them.
