Brand Photography for Tacoma Artist

Kelly Hartlyn is an abstract artist who lives and works in Tacoma, Washington. Her work is beautiful and it was an honor to get to create marketing images for her latest collection of artwork, “Attunement.” Here’s what she says about her work, “In my work, I follow intuition in the process of making organic marks and choosing color. I use acrylic, pastel, and ink on raw canvas to create soft, expressionistic pieces. My relationship with the external surroundings of the PNW, and my connection to myself, others and the playful yet risky creative process are all sources of inspiration.”

For her shoot, she needed some images of the artwork itself in addition to some lifestyle shots of her with her art and it hung in different settings. We chose to stage and shoot the images at GRLS Studio in Downtown Tacoma because it created a nice blank canvas with lots of bright light and a few home props that would really let Kelly’s artwork shine in the images. Kelly also brought lots of personal details from home, like her favorite plants, an end table, candles, and vases to make the images more personal to herself and her work.

Here’s what she had to say when I sent her the finished gallery, “They are incredible!! I’m a pile of smiles over here gushing over these…I’m so thrilled!”
