My Top 5 Personal Brand Photoshoots from 2021 and Why

Last year I was able to work with so many great personal brands to create stand out brand photos and beautiful lifestyle headshots to help them market their businesses. I am honored by every single person who is willing to trust me with the images that will represent their brand online and I want to share my favorites from 2021 as a way to celebrate, but also as a way to take what I’ve learned and share it with you. I’ll share a few photos from my favorite personal brand shoots from the last year and why these particular photoshoots made it to the list. I hope that you’ll be able to take the good things and keep them in mind as you plan your next personal brand photoshoot!

Up first was this shoot I did for Jennifer of Everything Just So. Jennifer creates resources for busy teachers to help them plan, organize, and simplify their workload. She is a great example of an online, service based, personal brand. She came to me because she needed updated headshots, photos of her working behind the scenes, and lifestyle content to post on her social media and to update her website with. The reasons why I loved her shoot were many, but I’ll stick to just two here: she was organized and she rented this beautiful home for our shoot. Although you don’t have to be, she came into the photoshoot planning process knowing what types of shots she needed and already having a bunch of great ideas for how to execute her shoot, including renting this location from Peerspace. It is so helpful to me if you have an idea of what you need when you reach out for brand photography and the photos speak for themselves about renting a nice space for your shoot.

Next up, Amy and Anna from Harbornest Homes. These gals are a real estate and home design team with big plans for the future. The thing I loved about their shoot was the true lifestyle components of it. I love that instead of just focusing on the work that they do, Amy asked to incorporate some lifestyle images of her baking with her kids and her and Anna enjoying a well-deserved glass of wine. These elements made the shoot so personal and I loved that! We are people running our businesses after all and we should be able to share that as we market our personal brands, right?

Kelli and I have hit our stride when it comes to working together on her photoshoots! She owns Ooh La Lash and Beauty and this year we did a two-part photoshoot for her. One part showing her actually working on some ladies’ lashes in her space and the other part in my studio for a series of lifestyle headshots for her to promote her brand on social media. I love that Kelli took the time to do a shoot completely dedicated to getting fun headshots to incorporate into her marketing, and I love how many outfits and ideas we fit into a simple studio shoot…these 4 don’t even begin to cover it!

Melanie and Brenda are another team of real estate agents and they were just plain fun to shoot for. Like any great team, they went shopping together the day before the shoot to find some killer coordinating outfits. We started off their brand shoot by popping a bottle of champagne (which was a great prop, mood booster, and helped everyone relax 😉). The other thing that worked out great for their shoot was to do half of the shoot in their real estate office and then run down the street to one of the houses that they had on the market to shoot some more comfortable lifestyle imagery of them in a home setting. This helped to provide a lot more variety for their shoot.

The last personal brand shoot that I want to highlight is one I did for Dr. Natalie Walch in my studio last spring. Natalie is a naturopath with an online health mentorship program and she needed cohesive images for her website and social media. The reason I wanted to highlight this shoot was that sometimes simple is best. Natalie brought a box of props from her office to stage my studio and make it more personalized to her. We kept it nice and simple and I think it serves well for her brand. If you are an online, service-based brand, this might be a good option for you too! Not every brand shoot has to be a huge production to turn out great!
