I love it when families invite me into their homes for photo sessions. It gives them a more personal aspect that you wouldn’t otherwise get.
Maddie and Andrew’s home is cozy and simple. My favorite touches were the homemade origami mobile, hanging in their living room, and the warm cream throw blanket that Maddie’s grandmother knit them for a wedding present. It was so cool to be able to incorporate these unique things into their session.
When Maddie scheduled their photo session she said that she wanted their son Marshall to know that they were happy during this time of their lives. You sure can tell from their photos too! Their photo shoot was full of cozy snuggles and laughter! I hope that Marshall grows up looking at these photographs and knowing that.
It is such a joy for me to be able to capture these moments in people’s lives. Moments that they can now tangibly look back on and smile.
As Dorothea Lange put it, “ Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
